A football superfan has finally completed the arduous process of getting his team's shirt tattooed on his torso.

Brazilian fan Jose Mauricio dos Anjos has spent 90 hours over 32 sessions being tattooed with the signature red and black 2015 home shirt.

Jose told local media he first got a bicep tattoo of the team's mascot at 18, but it wasn't enough.

He sold his motorcycle to afford the first few torso tattoo sessions, but the tattoo artist quickly offered to complete the work for free.

He got the number 10 inked on his back as a tribute to his favourite player, Zico, who he met last December.

"He was shocked, and touched it to make sure it wasn't painted on. I asked him to sign my skin and I then got his signature tattooed. He added that other Flamengo players thought the tattoo was 'cool'," Jose said.

The 33-year-old has become a local celebrity in his team's home city of Rio de Janeiro.
