A self-styled Indian holy man who boasts 40 million followers has been found guilty of rape.

Asaram was accused of attacking a 16-year-old girl at his spiritual centre five years ago.

He has been jailed for life. Two of his accomplices were sentenced to 20 years each, while another was acquitted.

The 77-year-old Asaram is expected to die in prison, reports the Times of India. His lawyer said they would be appealing the sentence.
