Two legged dog gets new set of wheels

A two legged dog from Texas who is at risk of becoming paralyzed is getting a new lease of life.

Tobi the miniature Shepherd has won the hearts of animal lovers online - who have pitched in to buy him a set of wheels.

He was born with only two legs, but he doesn't seem to know that.

"He is really super happy. He's just a happy, loving boy. I don't think he knows there's anything wrong with him," said Cassie Lackey from the Humane Society of North Texas.

The Humane Society of North Texas looks after him currently, since his previous owner was no longer able to care for him.

Tobi's problem is that he's at risk of becoming paralyzed if he keeps walking the way he currently does.

He needs a set of disabled doggy wheels and donations have been rolling in.

"It's going to be serious as he gets older," Ms Lackey said.

"Right now, his vertebrae are compressed. So the wheels are going to alleviate that degenerative disc disease that he has. So we want to get him fit and we want to just see him rolling around."

Tobi's new wheels will cost around $3000 all up and thanks to the donations are now on their way to him for fitting.

"His wheels have been ordered and we should have them and they begin a fitting in about three weeks," Ms Lackey said.

He'll then be adopted out to someone who can keep up with him.
