Video has emerged showing a US police officer allegedly beating and choking a black man for jaywalking.
Body camera footage is being used to help implicate officer Chris Hickman police officer in the alleged assault on African American man Johnnie Rush
The incident in question occurred in Asheville, North Carolina last August when Mr Rush was stopped by police for jaywalking.
Footage was initially obtained by the Citizen Times in February and is now being used against Hickman to charge him with felony assault by strangulation along with misdemeanor assault inflicting serious injury and communicating threats.
The video shows the Mr Rush squirming and struggling as he yells "help".
Mr Hickman was placed on administrative duty the day after the incident and went on to resign from his post in January.
Hickman's lawyer believes his client will be acquitted when the jury hears the full story.
