A 13-year-old is to blame for ordering a horse off the internet after she saw it would be put down if no one wanted it.

After responding to an advert online, the horse was delivered by a person not yet identified. The underweight animal, named Mr Melvin Andrews, was delivered to the Stoke-on-Trent property.

The surprise delivery gave a British grandmother a huge shock when it appeared in her back garden.

A spokesperson from the RSPCA told BBC the animal was delivered unwell and with no instructions as to how to care for him.

The horse had clearly been treated badly before being abandoned and a search for the previous owner was a priority.

Melvin is now being cared for by World Horse Welfare.
