A couple were ordered to leave their Lyft ride in Indiana when the driver saw the two men kiss each other.

After what they called a "peck", they were surprised when the driver left them upset on the side of the road.

Ben Martella told USA Today that the driver looked in the rear vision mirror, saw them kissing and begun yelling at them to leave.

"We were stunned. We didn't know the reason for it. He said, 'I'm going to end your ride. I can't have that in my car. I don't have that here.' I was really upset. It was a big reaction for such a small display of affection between two guys." Mr Martella said.

Partner Alec Jansen said he was shocked at what was happening.

He told USA Today, "We gave each other a short kiss on the lips... I was just surprised the whole thing happened. It just didn't seem like it was real."

They have since been in contact with Lyft, which refunded them money and have said the issue is being dealt with.
