School bus 'mangled' in horror crash with dump truck

A school bus was ripped in half when it collided with a dump truck in Mount Olive, New Jersey.

Two people were killed in the accident, which happened on a highway on Thursday (local time), local media reports.

The top half of the bus was ripped completely off the undercarriage.

One pupil and an adult are believed dead. As many as 10 others are believed to be injured.

The loaded bus was on its way to a historic site as part of a class trip.

"There's an incredible emergency response from throughout Morris County and by State Police. It's a horrific scene," said Mount Olive Mayor Rob Greenbaum.

He described the bus as "mangled".
