The hunt is on for a leopard in a Ugandan National park after it snatched and ate a 3-year-old boy.

The toddler was the son of a park ranger of the Queen Elizabeth National Park.

He was in the care of a nanny on Friday night, when he entered the unfenced staff quarters of a safari lodge and was preyed on.

Wildlife Authority spokesperson Bashir Hangi told The Telegraph, the nanny hadn't realised the child had followed her.

"She heard the kid scream for help, she intervened but it was too late.

The leopard had vanished with it in the bush and a search was mounted until we got the skull the next day," He said

Mr Hangi said the leopard needs to be captured and removed from the wild.

"Once it has eaten human flesh, the temptations are high to eat another human being, it becomes dangerous"
