A US soldier has been captured on camera watching his daughter's birth via mobile phone after his flight was delayed.

Specialist Brooks Lindsey was seen sitting down on the floor at the Dallas Fort Worth Airport staring at his phone screen after his flight to Brandon, Mississippi.

Another passenger Tracy Dover captured the moment on video and shared it to Facebook.

"He had to watch the birth of his daughter on FaceTime. He was crying and our hearts were breaking," she said.

"We all gave him space. When we heard the baby cry, we all rejoiced for him."

Ms Dover said she wanted to share the moment so people never "forget about our soldiers who serve us every day and the sacrifices they make".

Eventually Mr Lindsey was able to see his wife Hayley and newborn daughter Millie.

He told USA Today his daughter was "perfect".

The post has since gone viral, with Mr Lindsey receiving an outpour of support for serving in the military.

Actor Chris Pratt wrote on Twitter: "I know that look. Congrats Lindsey family. Thank you for all you do."
