A Michigan woman has opened up about the shocking moment she realised her husband had fathered a child with her teenage daughter.

Shannon St Andre, 37, knew her daughter was a lesbian and had never even dated a boy, and was concerned when she learned of the pregnancy, reports the Daily Mail.

She said the 18-year-old confessed to a one-night stand, but when she phoned the supposed father's home, discovered nobody with his name had ever lived there.

And when Ms St Andre looked into the familiar eyes of her new grandson nine months later, her suspicion arose.

"Many people came to me saying how he resembled my husband and resembled my own children," she told the Daily Mail.

"The blue eyes, the light skin - honestly, it was like looking at baby pictures of my own children."

Ms St Andre suspected her husband Greg was to blame, but when she shared her fear with police, claims she was "laughed out of the police department" and told she was being "petty and vindictive".

He later admitted to having sex with his daughter "one time only", but wasn't sure it was her. A DNA test proved he was the father.

Court documents show Mr St Andre had confessed to being in love with his daughter, and the pair believed they were in a relationship.

"He referenced her as his wife. He told her she can't have boyfriends and he was the only one who was going to love her," Ms St Andrew told the Daily Mail.

Mr St Andre was charged with two charges of third degree incest in April 2016 and released on bail. However, he was taken back into custody this month, accused of contacting his daughter using an app to disguise his phone number. He now awaits trial.

Ms St Andre said her daughter's child is a happy little boy.

"He didn't pick or choose his parents. He runs around and causes trouble just like all the rest of the kids. You can't look at him and condemn him for how he was brought into the world. It was never his fault."
