A pit bull has attacked and killed a six-year-old boy in Pennsylvania.
The Blair County coroner says the child died of blunt-force trauma from the attack, which occurred just before 6pm on Thursday in Lakemont.
Authorities say the dog that killed the boy is now dead, but they haven't revealed how it died. A neighbour told local media the father "did what he had to do" to get the dog off his son.
"His mother is taking it very, very hard," Rick Vaughan told the Altoona Mirror. "He passed away in her arms."
The family also asked police to take a second dog from the family home for an undisclosed reason.
The boy's name has not been released.
