A five-year-old Australian boy has died after being stabbed in a domestic incident at a Sydney home.
The incident took place around 7am on Friday morning in northwest Sydney, 7 News reports.
The boy was raced to The Children's Hospital in Westmead in a critical condition, but nothing could be done to save him.
He was in such poor condition when the ambulance got to him that it was given a police escort to hospital.
The boy's grandmother had raced into the streets with the boy to raise the alarm. A woman in her 60s was later treated at the scene for shock.
Police say a 36-year-old man who was known to the boy has been arrested and taken to Castle Hill police station. They are still investigating the incident.
