A spectator at a high school baseball final has captured the heartwarming moment a winning player chose to comfort a member of the opposition while his team went ballistic with celebrations.

The footage was taken during the final last Wednesday between teams from Minnesota's Mounds View High School and Totino-Grace High School, 7 News reported.

The winner of the regional championship game would proceed to a state tournament while it would be the end of the journey for the losing team, who would be sent home.

Finishing with a 4-0 scoreline, the Mounds View side secured their victory when teenager Ty Koehn struck out his close friend Jack Kocon.

But instead of joining in his team's celebrations, Koehn chose to embrace and comfort Kocon.

According to Bring Me The News (BMTN), the pair have been close friends since their early teens.

"Our friendship is more important than just the silly outcome of a game. I had to make sure he knew that before we celebrated," Koehan told BMTN

"It was more instinct, it just felt right."
