Gaza teen shot dead by Israeli forces

Thousands of Palestinians converged Friday along Gaza's border fence with Israel, burning tyres and throwing rocks at Israeli troops who fired tear gas and live bullets in yet another protest against Gaza's blockade.

The Health Ministry in Gaza said that a 13-year-old Palestinian was shot dead in the head as he participated in a protest in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip.

It added that 310 Palestinians were injured, of them 133 were transferred to hospitals, with at least one critical injury, and more than 90 received first aid at field clinics.

The protest campaign is supported by Hamas, the militant group that rules Gaza.

Participation is in large part driven by desperation from a blockade that Israel and Egypt imposed on the coastal enclave since Hamas took control in 2007.

More than 125 Palestinians have been killed since the campaign began in late March.
