A light aircraft has made an emergency landing on a busy Los Angeles street.

The incident happened in Huntington Beach and was captured on dashcam.

The single-engine Cessna 172 landed about 8km southwest of John Wayne Airport, where the pilot had just taken off.

The plane made a perfect landing, no one was hurt and it sustained no apparent damage.

"This could have been really, really bad," witness Tory Johnson told local news station ABC13. "Flew underneath all those wires, which is a pretty big deal. Those wires hang down pretty low and could have killed the power throughout this entire block. It was pretty gnarly."

Aviation authorities are investigating the incident.
