Prince William has shared photos of him relaxing and watching football while on a royal tour, but it's the man watching football with him who has people talking.

The Prince sat down to watch a rerun of the England Panama match  with Crown Prince of Jordan Hussein bin Abdullah at Beit Al Urdun Palace.

England's national team stormed to victory during the game, beating Panama 6-1. The team will next play Belgium on Friday NZ time.

Prince William wasn't about to have the game spoiled for him and repeatedly asked photographers not to let him know the score, the Daily Mail reports.

He then watched it in the lap of luxury as pictures released by Kensington Palace show, relaxing in front of a massive screen with Prince Hussein.

Rather than paying attention to the Prince the public's attention was however firmly focused on Prince William's Jordanian counterpart.

"Crown prince of Jordan is fine," one Twitter user wrote.

"Ok I'm off to Jordan," another said.

At least one person took the image seriously though, pointing out the similarity between the two men.

"Two future kings of a new generation, just catching up over a [World Cup] game," they said.
