Queen celebrates 65th anniversary of her coronation

Queen Elizabeth II is celebrating the 65th anniversary of her coronation in the UK.

The coronation took place at Westminster Abbey on June the 2nd 1953.

No official engagements are planned for the day, but Her Majesty will appear at five official engagements this month.

Elizabeth was 25 when she took the throne in 1952, but the coronation didn't happen until a year later because tradition held the festival shouldn't take place while she mourned her father's death.

It was the fourth - and final - coronation in the UK of the 20th century, and the first to be televised.
