A Nigerian man has died after his 'bulletproof' charms failed a test run.

Traditional healer Chinaka Adoezuwe, 26, asked a client to fire at him while he wore the charms around his neck, reports BBC News, to prove they worked.

"A young man had gone to [the healer] to prepare bulletproof charms for him, which the native doctor did," a witness told local newspaper The Punch.

"To prove the efficacy of the new charms, [he] positioned and handed over a gun to his customer. Tragedy struck and the bullets penetrated Adoezuwe, resulting in his death."

Police arrested the client, and have charged him with murder.

The incident happened in the small village of Umuozu Ugiri in the country's southeast.

Last year a pregnant US teenager shot and killed her boyfriend in a YouTube stunt gone wrong. She was later convicted of second-degree manslaughter and sentenced to six months in jail.
