European health experts warn of frozen vegetable dangers after nine deaths

Health experts across Europe are warning people of the dangers of eating frozen vegetables before cooking them after nine people have died. 

A warning has been issued for people to thoroughly cook all frozen vegetables, such as sweetcorn and peas, before eating them by the Food Standards Agency in the United Kingdom.

Links have been made to the outbreak of the rare infection listeriosis - which can serious health effects, Metro reports. Since 2015, 11 people have been affected by listeriosis in the United Kingdom. 

The European Food Safety Authority has also warned people of the dangers of eating uncooked frozen products such as spinach and green beans after nine people across Europe died.

A Hungarian freezing plant is believed to be the source of contamination.

Two of the 11 United Kingdom patients had consumed frozen corn, bought from the same supermarket supplied by the Hungarian plant.
