The heartbroken family of a young US girl who died from a brain tumour have shared a devastating photo showing their final hours with her.

Five-year-old Zoey Catherine Daggett was diagnosed in 2016 after she suffered an accident at a playground. Her symptoms worsened until a test revealed the cause - a deadly rare tumour that attacks children under 10. Survival rates are less than one percent.

But the brave child struggled on until she stopped responding to radiotherapy and her condition deteriorated. She passed away last week after a two-year battle.

The emotional photo was taken by her parents during their last day together as they cradled her in their arms and watched Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Her father Ben said Zoey died half-way through the film.

"We've had two years to prepare for this but it's never - it's never enough," her mother Casey told local newspaper the Democrat and Chronicle.

A family friend has set up a Gofundme to give the Daggetts the support they need. So far it's raised over $40,000.
