Perth triple murder: Touching tribute held for mother and two children

An touching tribute has been held for the woman and her two children who were killed in Perth earlier this month.

Nearly 150 people attended the vigil for Michelle Petersen, 48 and her eight-year-old son Rua and 15-year-old daughter Bella. 

Teancum Vernon Petersen-Croft, Ms Peterson's other son has been charged with killing his family members, ABC News reports. 

Many who attended the service arrived on motorbikes after they took part in a charity ride to raise money for the family.

Jessica Shaw, the MP for Swan Hills, address the crowd, which was full of Perth's Māori community who performed a haka and sung traditional songs. 

"Many of us will have been lost for words over these past few days," Ms Shaw said.

"Many of us have asked why these tragic events have occurred.

"We may never have answers."

If anything the tragedy has brought the community together, she said.

Māori elder Jake Moanaroa urged the community to learn from this tragedy.

"We don't know when the time is for us to leave this earth."
