Second poisoning in Salisbury confirmed

British counter terrorism police have confirmed a critically ill couple found in Amesbury, were exposed to Novichok.

It's the same nerve agent which poisoned former Russian spy Sergei Skripal, and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury in March - around 12 kilometres away.

The British pair, a 44-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man, were hospitalised after being found unwell on Saturday (local time) in Amesbury.

At least five different areas had been cordoned off, including a park and a property in Salisbury, and a pharmacy and a Baptist church community centre in Amesbury.

The couple remain in a critical condition.

Britain blamed the poisoning of the Skripals on Russia, prompting a serious diplomatic crisis between Moscow and Western states. Russia denied any involvement.
