A US waitress has given Jessica Jones a run for her money, after fighting back against a man who groped her.

Emelia Holden, 21, was just doing her job at a restaurant in Savannah, Georgia, when a man approached her from behind and inappropriately groped her, before walking off.

But Ms Holden wasn't going to let him off that easy. In security footage which has since gone viral, the woman can be seen chasing after the man, grabbing him and throwing him to the ground.

"You don't touch me, mother****er!" Ms Holden told the man, according to reports.

The man has been identified as Ryan Cherwinski, 31, from Florida, according to BuzzFeed. It has been reported that Cherwinski was taken into custody on June 30 and was charged with sexual battery following the incident, but was released days later on a $2500 bond.

The incident has been hailed an important win for victims of sexual assault. Thanks to security cameras, Ms Holden was able to prove that she was assaulted, leaving the groper unable to defend himself by spinning his own version of the event.

"The guy claimed that he was just trying to push me out of the way and, 'Oh, I barely touched you.' Once the police saw the video, they immediately arrested him. There was no doubt that he did it," Ms Holden told People magazine.

"I'm glad that other women can see this and know that you can stand up for yourself. You also have the right to wear whatever you want without having to worry about being groped."
