An Australian television presenter has been suspended after a foul-mouthed tirade at a charity event.

Sky News and Fox Sports News presenter Greg Thomson will find out if he stays in his job pending an investigation into his behaviour, a Sky News spokesperson confirmed to AdNews.

Mr Thompson was hosting a charity lunch for disability support group Inala in Sydney on Friday night, when he broke into a rant talking about the behaviour of the 400 guest at the event.

Footage of the rant showed the presenter become more and more agitated, swearing and yelling at guests to "put your manners back in and sit down".

He continued his tirade, labelling the crowd "disgraceful" and suggesting he say a vulgar word despite there being women in the room.

Mr Thomson was booed by the crowd and eventually stopped commentating after an organiser took the microphone off him.

He told the Sydney Morning Herald he had nothing to apologise for.
