An armed robber wouldn't stop talking during sentencing, that he had to have his mouth taped shut.

Thirty-two-year-old Franklyn Williams of Cleveland was convicted of three armed robbery charges but seemed to have more to say on the matter in court.

Williams, despite repeatedly being warned not to, continued to speak over his attorneys and the judge, before finally being ordered to have tape placed over his mouth to quiet him.

"Shut your mouth, and I'll tell you when you can talk," Judge John Russo told Williams.

"If we have to, I will gag you in one second," Judge Russo added moments before ordering his mouth taped shut.

"I'm going to tape it, and I'll unzip it when I want you to talk."

Video of the incident shows police officers placing red tape over Williams' mouth.

Williams was eventually sentenced to 24 years in prison for his offences - no doubt his inmates will hear plenty about it.
