Mountain lion enters house, kills pet cat

A Colorado woman has shared the "terrifying" experience of finding a mountain lion in her living room.

Kayla Slaughter said the lion looked right at her cat Klondike, licked its lips and pounced, killing the pet.

"I got her my junior year of college. She's been with me for 10 years. That's hard that that is the end that she had," Ms Slaughter told CBS.

It took animal control officers hours to figure out what to do with the lion.

They decided to haze the big cat, shooting little beanbags to scare it down from the home's upstairs level.

Ms Slaughter said the big cat likely got into the home through one of her windows.

"We'll definitely be more vigilant with keeping our windows shut when we're not here, especially at night time."
