A Kiwi fugitive wanted for multiple alleged frauds and an indecent assault by New Zealand Police has been arrested in Australia.

Simone Wright was arrested by Australian police on Tuesday on an outstanding New Zealand Police warrant for her arrest.

In a statement, New Zealand Police say a 41-year-old woman, who is an Australian citizen, was arrested at the request of NZ Police on outstanding NZ warrants in relation to drugs, indecent assault, fraud matters, and theft.

"She has appeared in court in Australia and has been remanded in custody to reappear there on the 28th of September," police say.

Wright's partner Paul James Bennett was arrested in Australia when they fled from New Zealand arriving in Sydney on a stolen yacht in 2015.

Bennett was deported from Australia in May 2016 and taken into custody at the Christchurch Airport. In court he faced 48 charges stretching back to 2008 including fraud and theft totalling thousands of dollars, indecent assaults and supplying illegal drugs.
