A child seat in Australia has been slammed by local police for its lack of safety.

NSW police posted a photo on their Facebook page of a child seat found at a routine breath-testing station.

They said they found a child "lying flat on their back in a non-compliant child seat".

"The child had no shoulder straps and the 'child seat' was only attached to the vehicle by a seatbelt that was looped through it," the post read.

To make matters worse, there was a pregnant female passenger seated next to the baby who did not have a seatbelt on at all.

That wasn't the end of the infringements either, police also found the car's was not registered due to expiry.
