A Chinese man wanting a furry friend recently found out his pet dog was actually a bamboo rat.
The owner of the chubby black 'dog' made a WeChat post in late September to express his concerns after the pet grew and developed traits he was not expecting.
The man said in the post he was lonely, so he decided to buy himself a small pet from a cheap black puppy dealer.

However what he found out was that he had bought a bamboo rat, which is a rodent from southern China, where the man is from.
They mostly feed on bamboo and are a culinary delicacy in parts of China.
The man decided to give the pet away as he did not know how to care for it properly.
