Is the killer clown craze back?

  • 06/10/2018

A creepy killer clown has made an appearance in Kent, England leaving two boys shook up after it chased them with a baseball bat.

According to the Daily Mail the boy's mother said the clown was armed and started laughing manically when he saw them.

"As the boys reached an underpass the clown sat on the floor, laughing and banging his wooden bat," she told the Daily Mail.

Last month another man dressed as a clown, Pennywise from It, and armed with a knife told two young boys to "run or die."

This is the third report of a creepy clown in the UK over the last few months.

In August a Sainsbury's supermarket in Manchester was robbed by a man in a clown mask.

The creepy clown epidemic started in 2016 when there were reports all over the UK of clown sightings,  including 14 reports of people dressed as clowns intimidating the public in Thames and six reports in Gloucestershire.

Assistant Chief Constable Catherine Hankinson of Greater Manchester Police told The Sun that people should remain calm if they do see the clowns and report them as it is a serious issue.

"It's important to stress that no-one has been physically harmed and I want to reassure people that we take reports of this nature extremely seriously."

The craze hit New Zealand the same year with a number of sightings across the country.

Police issued a warning advising people to: "Relax. Call police if you feel threatened. Maybe ask them to juggle or tie a balloon animal to see if they're legit."
