New images show Saudi Arabia used body double to try and cover up Jamal Khashoggi death

New images have shown the lengths Saudi Arabia went to to cover up the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Saudi Arabia has since admitted to the death of the journalist at the country's consulate in Istanbul.

The intention, though, was to cover up his killing, with surveillance footage obtained by CNN showing a man leaving the consulate wearing Mr Khashoggi's clothes on the day he died.

The footage appears to show a man leaving the consulate wearing Mr Khashoggi's clothes, a fake beard and glasses.

The man was also captured entering Istanbul's famous Blue Mosque wearing Mr Khashoggi's clothes.

Four hours before exiting the consulate, the CNN report says that the body double, Mustafa al-Madani, arrived at the consulate without a beard and wearing different clothes.

The giveaway appears to be that Mr Madani wore the same shoes throughout the day.

It's believed that Mr Madani was flown in to Istanbul as part of the 15-person team suspected of killing Mr Khashoggi.

A Turkish source told CNN that Mr Madani was used because he is of a similar age, height and build to Mr Khashoggi.

Saudi Arabia has continuously shifted its story on the mysterious disappearance of the Washington Post columnist, first denying his death before admitting it but stating it was not intentional.
