A pregnant Queensland woman has been left horrified after finding a note from her neighbour saying she would kill her dogs if they didn't stop barking.

The woman, who is four months' pregnant and lives alone in Marcus Beach, Queensland says she considers her two mixed-bred staffies, Lucy and Milo, as protection.

The 36-year-old surf club supervisor found a handwritten note in her mailbox last week that read: "Shut your f****ng dog up or I will bait it."

"I was horrified, mortified. It's just disgusting," she told 7 News, saying she knew exactly which neighbour was responsible for the note.

She told 7 News the dogs had a huge yard and didn't bark more than normal.

"They're not aggressive dogs. I've put a fence up on the side [of the house] so they are not too close to the front."

She has since taken the letter to the police and plans to photocopy and drop the note off at her neighbours' houses so they are aware of the threat.

The woman told 7 News she didn't think the neighbour would follow through with the threat but has put her dogs on barking collars out of fear.

"You just don't make threats to people."
