'Sad and confused' puppy found with heartbreaking note on collar

A "sad and confused" puppy was found wandering the streets of Michigan with a heart-wrenching note attached to her collar.

Local animal rescue group Luvnpupz posted photos of six-month-old Ghost to their Facebook page with a plea for help.

"We are reaching out to our West Michigan community to help us find Ghost's owner so that we can work together to figure out if there is a way to return her home with some support and assistance," the group wrote.

The note found with Ghost offered a tragic explanation for why she was abandoned.

"I am lost and looking for a home," it read.

"My owner had a stroke and cannot care for me. Please don't take me to a shelter. I am a purebred coonhound, six months old, please find home."

Luvnpupz is trying to track down Ghost's owner and will attempt to support them so they can keep her. It says if that isn't possible, it will try to find Ghost a "loving" new home.

The rescue group urged people not to judge the dog's owner for giving her up, saying no one knew the exact circumstances that might have led them to make the heartbreaking decision.

Plenty of Michigan locals have offered to adopt Ghost in the Facebook comments, but Luvnpupz says it is focused on finding her owner first before beginning the adoption process.
