The heartbreaking message from a mother of four telling people not to take life for granted has gone viral after she was fatally shot.

Australian mother Emily Miller, 31, was rushed to hospital on Wednesday with the gruesome wound in the stomach. She failed to recover from her injuries and died.

Police are questioning a man in his 20s over the incident. He and Ms Miller had started dating last month.

However before she was shot, she shared a poignant quote on her Facebook page urging people not to "take life for granted".

"Those who died yesterday had plans for this morning. And those who died this morning had plans for tonight," it read.

"Don't take life for granted. In the blink of an eye, everything can change. So forgive often and love with all your heart. You may never know when you may not have that chance again."

Her friends have paid tribute to their loved one with a touching series of messages, with one promising her "beautiful children will be taken care of".

"I can't believe you have been taken so soon and your life cut so short. You were such a beautiful mother and soul I can't believe this, I really can't," friend Shaun-Teal Rose Lawson said in a Facebook post.

"My heart goes out to your four beautiful children who adored you more than life itself."

"You were such a beautiful mother and soul I can't believe this, I really can't," another said. "I will always be here for your children no matter what baby girl."
