Man's bizarre Sydney shoe shop dash gives worker fright of his life

A panicked retail worker at a Sydney shoe shop got the run-around when a customer appeared to dash off wearing a pair of shoes he hadn't paid for.

Harvinth Skin, who describes himself on Facebook as a comedian, posted a video of himself trying on a pair of shoes at a Sydney JD Sports, before sprinting out of the store.

As a visibly concerned employee chases after him, Mr Skin turned around, dashing back into the store, and revealing the whole thing as a prank.

While other customers laughed, the worker looked extremely relieved and Mr Skin played it as if nothing unusual had happened.

The footage has gone viral online, with more than 21 million views since being uploaded to Facebook on Tuesday morning.

Mr Skin said the employee deserved a raise, but some commenters think the skit was planned.

"See the reaction of the salesman and you know it was planned," said one viewer.

Another said "this is why you never give people two shoes to try on. Never", but one commentator said while it may be a joke to Mr Skin the employee could lose his job for letting someone out of the store.

Checking across all of Mr Skin’s social media posts and other news articles of the video, there was nothing explicit to suggest this was a paid social media stunt.
