An Australian man has admitted he brutally murdered his own father in a shockingly violent case.

Nathan Missen, 28, smirked in court as a family member described the pain they felt as he admitted the gruesome crime.

Mark's sister Diane spoke of her horror, saying: "To know Mark called out 'I can't breathe' and for Nathan to not call an ambulance is unbelievable and absolutely heartbreaking."

"I have ongoing nightmares about how Mark must have felt when his only son was killing him."

Nathan had earlier admitted in court that he murdered his father and "best mate" Mark Missen.

Allegedly, the deadly attack began after Mark raised concern for Nathan's girlfriend, who Nathan had beaten that day.

As he lay dying, Nathan is alleged to have told his father to "stop making noise".

He then hid the body in a cupboard for three days before asking his friends to help him dump it into a disused mine shaft. The body was discovered three months later, and was so decomposed police had to identify it by the fingerprints, reports news.com.au.
