A giant wave on a Spanish island has battered an apartment building and wiped out several third-storey balconies.
The apartment building has more than 60 ocean-facing units, and all residents were forced to evacuate shortly before the enormous six-metre wave hit the building on the island of Tenerife in the Atlantic Ocean.

In terrifying footage, waves can be seen washing away balconies on the apartment's third storey.
The location is a hot spot for British holidaymakers. Most of the tourists were accommodated in a local sports hall in Mesa del Mar by the Red Cross.
Further south on the island, waves shattered the window of a restaurant as people were eating, while a car was dragged into the sea.
There have been no reports of any fatalities.
