Chaos at Italian nightclub leaves six dead

Six people have been killed and dozens more injured at a nightclub in Italy.

The victims were crushed to death at a rap concert in the town of Corinaldo.

A walkway collapsed and dozens fell, and a stampede ensued when a hooded man sprayed a substance into the crowd - suspected to be tear gas or pepper spray - according to local reports.

Five of the six killed were teenagers, and the other was a mother there with her child.

"The main hall had a capacity of 469 and they sold 1300 tickets," Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini told reporters. "You can’t die at 14 in this way. You don't need new laws here. You need to have a conscience and respect existing laws."

More than 100 were injured.
