The death toll is expected to grow as missing peoples' reports are still being filed and data is still being collected from some areas.
It is understood another 57 people are still missing after the wave that rose from the Sunda Strait swept Sumatra and Java.
At least 555 homes have been destroyed and nine hotels have been heavily damaged, as well as 60 restaurants and 340 boats.
Local authorities believe that underwater landslides triggered by the volcanic eruption of Anak Krakatau could have caused the tsunami.
The timing of the tsunami over the Christmas holiday season has evoked memories of the Indian Ocean tsunami triggered by an earthquake on December 26 in 2004, which killed 226,000 people in 14 countries.
A warning has been issued for people to "stay away from the beaches" because of the risk of another tsunami, a spokesman for the disaster agency BNPB said.
