A London mother and father who named their child after Adolf Hitler have been jailed.

Adam Thomas, 22, and Claudia Patatas, 38, gave their son the middle name 'Adolf', Thomas admitting in court it was to honour the genocidal Nazi dictator.

The pair were members of National Action, a white supremacist group outlawed in 2016. Images released by West Midlands Police showed them holding up a swastika flag with their baby. In another, Thomas wore a KKK hood and held his infant, also dressed in white.

When their home was raided, police found a swastika-shaped pastry cutter and cushions emblazoned with the Nazi symbol.

"These individuals were not simply racist fantasists; we now know they were a dangerous, well-structured organisation," said Det Chief Supt Matt Ward when the pair were found guilty in November.

"Their aim was to spread neo-Nazi ideology by provoking a race war in the UK, and they had spent years acquiring the skills to carry this out."

That included learning how to make bombs and use weapons like crossbows and knives.

Thomas was jailed for six years, six months, and Patatas five years.

Four other members of National Action were also sentenced, getting similar sentences.
