Almost $30,000 (NZ$31,400) has been raised for the families of a British couple who died within hours of each other.

Jason Francis, 29, died on Saturday night after being hit by a Domino's Pizza delivery driver in Scarborough, Perth, after a night out with friends.

His partner of eight years, Alice Robinson, took her life just hours later, 7 News reports.

The couple were from the UK and are believed to have no family in Australia. Friends have now rallied together to raise money for their families to have their bodies sent home.

"Although they felt like family to us all their true families like in the UK," said Sam Diamond, who organised a GoFundMe page for the couple on Christmas Eve.

The page has so far risen over AU$28,000 to support the pair's grieving families in the UK.

Tributes have flown in for the couple, with one person writing, "Two beautiful people taken in the prime of their life, such an absolute tragedy."

Another supported the idea of having their bodies sent home saying, "I don't know them from a bar of soap but I know I'd want to be buried where my family are."

Western Australia Police are seeking witnesses who may have seen the vehicle of Mr Francis in the area where he was killed.
