A babysitter, who allegedly killed a two-month-old boy then pretended he was alive when she gave the boy back to his mother, has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide.

According to a criminal complaint, Wisconsin woman Marissa Tietsort, 28, caused the child’s death in October before placing him in a snowsuit.

When the victim’s mother came to pick up her children, the infant was in his car seat with a hat pulled down over his eyes.

However, the baby was not breathing and was cold and stiff, the complaint said.

Police arrived to find the boy's mother trying to resuscitate him. He was described as having “ashen skin tone, a clenched jaw and blue lips”.

According to a coroner's report, the baby had died hours earlier of blunt force head injuries from multiple impacts to the head.

During a recent court appearance, Judge Jill Falstad issued a US$702,000 bond for Tietsort, who is pregnant with her sixth child, and ordered the babysitter have no contact with children or with the victim’s family, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

Tietsort told police she did not kill the baby, but knew he was dead, the complaint said.

When her boyfriend got home that evening, they went to McDonald’s and she brought the dead baby with them, according to the complaint.

After she gave the boy back to his mother, Tietsort, her boyfriend and their son went swimming at a local hotel, the complaint said.
