Five children killed in crash en route to Disney World in Florida

Five children on their way to Disney World in Florida are among seven people killed in a fiery explosion after being sandwiched between two trucks.

Horrified witnesses heard an explosion then saw a ball of fire as they rushed to save people from the crash wreckage.

Officials believe a northbound truck and trailer unit struck another vehicle, CBS reports.

They both crashed through a guard rail and across a medium before slamming into another truck and trailer unit and the church van the children were in.

The children were in a packed the church passenger van and one of those killed was the church pastor's granddaughter.

The highway was closed in both directions following the crash. The drivers of both the truck and trailer units were killed.

The crash injured at least eight others including a pregnant woman.

She and her unborn child are recovering.
