A New Zealander has been killed on one of world's most dangerous roads.

The man was on the Yungas Road in Bolivia when it's understood he went over a cliff.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade is aware of the death and has confirmed they are providing support to the man's partner and family.

No further details would be released due to privacy reasons, but Stuff is reporting it is believed to be a cycling accident.

Yungas Road, located in the east of the South American nation, is commonly known as "Death Road" due to its notoriously high death rate. It is prone to fog, landslides, and has cliffs that drops around 600 metres at each turn.
