A second-grade girl from Virginia has won $30,000 to fund her college education by taking out Google's annual Doodle competition with a drawing of a dinosaur.
Sarah Gomez-Lane's design features a number of dinosaurs forming the Google logo. It was a part of the search engine's annual competition where pupils enter their own creations of the logo in the hope of winning the $30,000 prize.
Sarah told Google she was delighted when she was announced the winner.
"When they called my name out I was happy and surprised. I'm going to call my principal and he will say 'yay'," she said.
Sarah told Google she drew the dinosaurs as she dreams of being a palaeontologist when she grows up.
Sarah had a special workshop with Google's professional doodlers and artists who helped bring her drawing to life to be posted on Google's homepage.
"Her school will receive $50,000 to spend on technology to help students like Sarah continue to pursue what inspires them," Google said in a statement.
The guest judges who helped choose the scholarship recipient were Jimmy Fallon, Kermit the Frog, and 2018 National Teacher of the Year Mandy Manning.
