Shocking footage of bridge in China collapsing below six tourists

Shocking footage has emerged of a bridge collapsing below a group of tourists in China.

The incident occurred earlier this month when a group of six tourists were attempting to cross the rope bridge in the region of Guangdong in southern China.

The video shows one of the group members rocking the bridge, which is 2.5 metres above water, and begin jumping up and down only moments before it collapses underneath the six tourists.

Local media reports that the shaking had caused one of the steel handrails to break, which, despite regular maintenance checks, may have become weakened due to rust from heavy rain in the last year.

All of the tourists had been wearing harnesses at the time of the collapse and were quickly rescued without anyone being injured.

The bridge, which is found in Yangjiang city, was closed indefinitely after the incident.
