A US maths teacher has resigned after it was alleged she sent nudes to her 17-year-old student.
Kelsie Schmidt was in her first year of teaching at Beulah High School in North Dakota.
On Friday, a detective from Mercer County Sheriff's Department was called to the school, after receiving a report of a teacher sending nude photos via Snapchat, reports the Dickinson Press.
A student told the detective he had received three or four naked photos from Schmidt throughout August and September.
The photographs were described as being from the waist up, with the 22-year-old teacher's hair partially covering her breasts.
Another was a photo of a person's legs, with the caption "get a group and play naked hide and seek."
Schmidt allegedly admitted to the detective that the photographs were from her, reports the Dickinson Press.
Beulah Public School District Superintendent Travis Jordan told the Dickinson Press Schmidt had been placed on administrative leave, and is being investigated by the school district.
He declined to comment on whether multiple students were involved.
"This is a very unfortunate situation for everyone, but certainly it's a very serious allegation and we are treating it very seriously," the teacher's attorney Tom Dickinson said.
Schmidt was charged on Tuesday, January 23, with felony luring minors by computer or other means. Her bond was set at ten percent of US$10,000, according to court records.
Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 27.
