Brazil's President tweets sex clip, then asks what 'golden shower' is

The President of Brazil has baffled the world by tweeting a video of two men engaging in a urination-based sex act.

Jair Bolsonaro was elected in a landslide victory last year after campaigning on a platform of racism, sexism and homophobia.

Progressive Brazilians have used the country's annual Carnival celebrations to voice their dissent about his leadership. Revellers in Rio de Janeiro protested outside the 63-year-old's seafront property, while a giant doll resembling the man was reportedly showered with beer cans in the town of Olinda.

The hashtag #EiBolsonaroVaiTomarNoCu, which roughly translates to 'get screwed Bolsonaro', is also trending in Brazil.

The President hasn't taken kindly to the public displays against him, and on Tuesday tweeted that Brazil had been "destroyed by decades of governments with a socialist slant".

A few hours later, he tweeted a graphic video that had reportedly been filmed at a Carnival event in São Paulo. It showed two men on top of a taxi shelter - one wearing a jockstrap and touching his own anus, while the other urinates on his head.

"I don't feel comfortable showing it, but we have to expose the truth so the population can be aware and always set their priorities," he wrote. "This is what many street Carnival groups have become in Brazil."

Many Twitter users were confused by his decision to post the erotic clip, with some wondering if he had breached the men's privacy and others flagging the post for offensive content. However some were pleased to see him condemning what they called "indecent" behaviour.

Things got weirder when President Bolsonaro asked his followers for clarification about the sex act the men seemed to be engaging in.

"O que é golden shower?" he tweeted, translating to "What is a golden shower?"

His actions were slammed by his many critics, including left-wing Rio de Janeiro congresswoman Mônica Francisco.

"No one would see such a scene were it not for the disclosure of the President himself!" she tweeted. "Where is the decorum and the respect?"

Some of his political opponents said they would be asking prosecutors to investigate whether he had broken the country's privacy laws by posting the graphic video, which now seems to have been deleted.

Human rights activist and church leader Antônio Carlos Costa tweeted that President Bolsonaro owed the nation an apology, but so far there has been no such remorse.

President Bolsonaro's Twitter habits have drawn comparisons with US President Donald Trump, whose frequent and chaotic social media presence has challenged acceptable decorum for a head of state.
