Australian police release terrifying footage of moment masked gunman shoots at man

Australian police have released terrifying footage of a masked gunman opening fire on a man walking into his Sydney home.

On Tuesday, two masked men dress in black approached a man as he entered his home in the Sydney suburb of Caddens.

Footage of the incident shows one of the offenders dash up to the 31-year-old man's house while shooting at him, before quickly running off.

The offenders then drove away from the scene in a stolen black Mercedes A45 coupe, which was later discovered on fire.

Detective Superintendent Brett McFadden said the man wasn't injured but police were treating the incident as an attempted-murder.

"There's no doubt in my mind that the intent on the part of the offenders was to inflict grievous bodily harm or kill their intended target.

"These are not isolated incidents, this is a targeted attack linked to other activities in which the intended target was most likely involved."

Several raids were conducted across the city on Thursday as part of the police investigation.

Police want to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or saw the car leaving the scene.
