Social media convinced figure of Jesus can be seen in Notre Dame fire

Parts of the historic Notre Dame Cathedral may have burned to a crisp on Tuesday, but at least we can all take comfort in one Scottish mum's silver lining - she's convinced Jesus can be seen in the flames.

Lesley Rowan posted to Facebook on Tuesday to share her groundbreaking discovery.

"I may be letting my mind play tricks on me," she wrote. Not a particularly reassuring start.

"Take a close look at this pic and what do u see. I've even circled it!!!"

Lo and behold, visible within the burning cathedral, was some burning scaffolding - and, if you ask five other people and stare at it for 10 minutes, an outline of a vaguely Christ-like figure.

While the world mourns a loss of culture and 850 years of history and France grieves the loss of its "heart", Rowan and various other social media users debate the validity of her religious symbol.

The "figure" is roughly six-metres-tall, with a seemingly miniature head.

While some people said they saw the same figure, including a "halo" and "a long red cape thing he wears", others were not as convinced.

"I see a fist doing the finger," wrote one, while another said all they can see is a statue.

"It's not a statue tho," replied Rowan.

Fair enough.
